UNSW Art & Design lecturer Dr Lindsay Kelley’s exploratory new book, Bioart Kitchen: Art, Feminism and Technoscience (I. B. Tauris, 2016), asks the question, what do new technologies taste like?

Taking an alternative approach from most critiques of biological art, Bioart Kitchen traverses a wide spectrum of seemingly unconnected subjects which, when brought together, offer a more inclusive, expansive history of bioart, namely: home economics; the feminist art of the 1970s; tissue culture methodologies; domestic computing; and contemporary artistic engagements with biotechnology.

Bioart Kitchen will be providing a unique gastronomic experience at Love Letters to Other Worlds, an evening of art, conversation, exploration, and digestion on April 7 from 6.30pm, opening Feminist, Queer, Anticolonial Propositions for Hacking the Anthropocene, a symposium hosted by Sydney Enovironmental Institute at Sydney University.
