Stacks & Sleeves: A Posthuman Landscape
- When 16 Oct - 24 Nov 2019
We live in a present furiously speeding towards an ever increasingly data- centric future.
The inevitable scenario of the singularity generates existential questions of what it means to be human.
When displaced as the most intelligent species; what defines us? What does it mean to be human and what becomes of the environment, nature and social systems? Do we thrive in otherworlds in the digital dimension on Earth alongside outposts in neighbouring planets?
This immersive, interactive media arts exhibition aims to imagine a time not too far away from now where identities are heavily mediated by machine intelligence, life is possible elsewhere other than Earth and interspecies relationships are thriving. Designed to be viewed as two parts of one whole, Stacks and Sleeves: A Posthuman Landscape features new and recent artworks by 8 artists across venues Gallery Lane Cove and Galerie Pompom. Both galleries evoke a different experience through the presentation of different artworks.
