John Fries Award finalist Sara Morawetz discusses their ongoing project All My Anxieties 2017– with curator Miriam Kelly.
Sara Morawetz is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist working across performance, installation, photography and video. Her work examines the systems and structures that measure experience, investigating concepts such as time and distance to explore their physical, emotional and exhaustive potential. Morawetz describes All my anxieties as “an ongoing personal periodical – a continuing performative action and emotional archive designed to catalogue my flaws, failings and insecurities one month at a time. Conceived prior to the COVID pandemic (yet produced in its wake), this iteration presents a methodical analysis of my internal monologue at a unique moment of isolation and uncertainty.”
Miriam Kelly is the Curator of the John Fries Award 2019–20, and is currently Curator at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (ACCA) (2018–).
