Living and studying in Sydney - Australia's truly global city
Recognised as one of the world's most liveable cities, Sydney is Australia's largest and most diverse metropolis. The city is blessed with a dynamic cultural life, stunning beaches, a world famous harbour and a warm temperate climate so you can enjoy an outdoor lifestyle all year round. Sydney’s cultural calendar includes major events such as the Sydney Festival, Biennale of Sydney, Sydney Film Festival, Vivid Sydney and Sydney Writers Festival.
Art & Design campus location - in the creative heart of the city
The Art & Design campus is centrally located in the vibrant inner city neighborhood of Paddington, an historic centre for the creative and cultural community. From here, students enjoy easy access to the City centre and beaches, plus an array of cinemas, museums, galleries, cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs.
Getting to the Art & Design campus
The Art & Design campus is well serviced by a variety of public transport options. The campus is within walking distance of two major train stations (Central and Museum), as well as bus routes on nearby Oxford Street and Flinders Street. There is also a shuttle bus between the Paddington Art & Design and Kensington UNSW campuses, which operates throughout each semester.
The UNSW Art & Design campus features a network of high quality student-led galleries. This network is used as both teaching resources and exhibition spaces. The campus galleries enable art, design and media students to showcase their work to both the wider university community and the general public.

Extracurricular and social activities
Being a student at UNSW Art & Design doesn't mean it's all work and no play! Sydney is renowned for its lifestyle and is rated one of the world's best cities for student life. There are a wide range of extracurricular activities that enable students to interact in a relaxed social setting away from the studio, classroom, workshop or lab.
As well as on-campus exhibitions, screenings and performances throughout the year, you're also invited to become a member of Arc - a student-run body that organises popular events and parties.
