Join us for a kite-making workshop accompanied by music therapy responding to the themes of the 24th Biennale of Sydney, 'Ten Thousand Suns'.
This workshop engages with the work of Māori artist Nikau Hindin and her exploration of cultural practices in mapping, divination, and kite-making. Manu means both kite and bird in Māori, and while often used for recreation, they were also used for divination, communication, and as a guide to new auspicious lands to settle on.
In this workshop, participants will be invited to design and make their own kites using hessian, paint, and raffia. Accompanied by a relaxing soundscape, the program also explores the meditative benefits of artmaking and music.
